Amy Wainscott is an active performer and music educator of Oboe and English horn in the Dallas Metroplex Area. A native of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Amy received her Masters in Oboe Performance at Southern Methodist University and her Bachelor in Oboe Performance at Arkansas State University. Her principal teachers have been Erin Hanngian (Dallas Symphony) and Dan Ross (Tupelo Symphony - Ross Gouge Inventor) and she has also participated in master classes and lessons with Richard Killmer, Mark Ostoich, Nancy Ambrose King, Elaine Dovuas, and Sherry Sylar.
Amy performs as oboe and English horn with the Dallas Civic Wind Ensemble, South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and the Highlander Winds chamber ensemble. She has also performed with Texarkana Symphony, Longview Symphony, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet Orchestra, Allen Symphony, Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Metroplex Opera Company, Savoy Chamber Orchestra, Dallas Camerata Winds, Tupelo Symphony Orchestra and throughout Russia and Poland with the Messiah Project Orchestra. She enjoys volunteering with Project Eve, the New Life Symphony Orchestra, and the Dallas Metropolitan Winds.
Amy is an active teacher and has been teaching Oboe, English horn, and double reed ensembles in the DFW area since 2006. She is the Instructor of Oboe at Richland College and the Instructor of Oboe at the TowerArts Conservatory. Amy teaches the beginning double reed class at Highland Park Middle School in Dallas Texas and also maintains a private studio from independent school districts throughout the Dallas Metroplex.
