I am Coordinator of Music Education at Kent State University. I played oboe for fifteen years in the Akron (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra in Akron, OH, and for 20 years in the Blossom Festival Concert Band. I also played for several years in the Canton (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra. I studied with William Baker at The Ohio State University, and Harvey McGuire , John Mack and Elizabeth Camus, all of the Cleveland Orchestra. I recorded with the Cleveland Symphonic Winds under the direction of Frederick Fennell (a long time ago!). I spent many years free-lancing in the Akron-Cleveland area, and performed with the Sounds of Sousa professional concert band under the direction of Marcus Neiman. Even though my degrees are all in music education, and that is my chosen career path, my passion is playing oboe. I plan to get back into more active playing in a few years when I retire from college teaching. |
